IFTPS GUIDELINE DOCUMENTS

The Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists (“IFTPS”) is a non-profit organization established exclusively for the purpose of fostering education and training for those persons interested in procedures, techniques, and regulatory requirements for thermal processing of all types of food or other materials, and for the communication of information among its members and other organizations. Part of the mandate of IFTPS Technical Committees formed of IFTPS Members is to develop protocols to be used as guides for carrying out the work of thermal processing specialists.

These guidelines, recommendations, protocols, and the information contained therein (the “materials”) are created by IFTPS Technical Committees formed of members and consultants (collectively “thermal processing authorities”). The following IFTPS materials are voluntary

guidelines, unless otherwise referenced or mandated by regulatory agencies. These materials have not been otherwise evaluated by the regulatory agencies. These materials do not preclude the application of other methods and equipment for carrying out the work of thermal processing specialists. These materials have been developed by consensus of IFTPS members and are offered for consideration for adoption as methodology by individuals performing studies and work in these areas.

The information provided on these materials does not, and is not intended to, constitute an official government position; instead, all information, methods, and applications provided in these materials are for general informational purposes only.
